You’re looking into CBD but are unsure if you should opt for the strongest product you can find. Do more milligrams of CBD equal more relief? Let’s explore the answer to this question today.
CBD is a natural, botanical supplement that works differently than traditional treatment. It works with your body to correct imbalances & therefore dosages aren’t straightforward. It’s based on your body’s needs & deficiencies! The benefit can also have a ‘biphasic’ effect. Meaning that there are multiple ‘sweet spots’ for you that can exist at both high & low dosages. But, benefits aren’t linear & may be better/worse at a few dosage levels.
How CBD Works (Summary)
Cannabis therapeutics are nowhere near the same as traditional solutions. They work completely differently & this is why you must approach these kinds of alternatives with a more open, patient, & willing mind.
CBD helps restore balance, homeostasis, & ‘normal’ to your body. One of the main ways that CBD is able to achieve such incredible benefits is by working with your body to alter/modify its systems to restore ‘normal’.
So, the benefits you feel from CBD are uniquely tailored to what your body actually needs! This also means that dosages aren’t as straightforwards as the traditional treatment. Your job is finding how much CBD your body actually needs, & where you receive the most benefit without feeling tired. This amount is different for everyone because we all have different deficiencies & imbalances!
Cannabis has some unique & interesting properties. One is the fact that you may notice varying levels of benefit at varying levels of dosages. This relationship isn’t direct, however.
Meaning that taking more CBD doesn’t always lead to more benefits. But, it can. Cannabis has a ‘biphasic’ effect. When trying to find a strength that works for you, we usually advise people to start low.
You may notice a benefit at that low dosage, as your body might not need much! But, we encourage increasing dosage to see if more benefits are left on the table. Now, as you increase your dosage you may notice less benefit. But, many times if you continue to increase the dosage there will be a second, higher ‘sweet spot’. This is what we mean by ‘biphasic’.
For example, Sally has begun CBD & finds 20mg to offer a high level of benefit. But, she wants to experiment to see if she can unlock more benefits. Sally increases her next dosage to 35mg & immediately notices a dramatic decrease in the relief she feels. But, following this advice, she continues to increase the dosage. She then takes 50mg the next day, & notices an incredible increase in benefit & different effects that are even better than the lower 25mg dosage!
Increasing the dosage doesn’t always lead to benefit. But, it can. Sally felt great at 25mg, bad at 30mg, & even better at 50mg! This is the ‘biphasic’ effect of Cannabis. It’s exactly why you should explore higher/lower dosages. The result might be the opposite for you! You may feel better with a lower dosage than higher, while others are vice versa.
Strength isn’t everything
The amount of CBD you consume is far from the only factor in finding an effective solution. So many other variables such as delivery method, frequency, & consistency are just a few other key factors to success with CBD.
Another point is that many products contain additional, beneficial ingredients that vary by product. Many offer MCT/Coconut Oil which is good for digestive health. Others include things like Vitamin E or Omega fatty acids to further help with helping you stay healthy!
We strongly encourage you to experiment & not to be afraid of trying something new when it comes to CBD. You may notice better/worse effects from using CBD in different ways, at different times & amounts. The goal is to find the perfect routine that leaves you feeling like a million bucks & offers the most benefit with the least unwanted effects (such as tiredness)
Don’t’ just buy the ‘strongest’ CBD product you can find. Because you may not need it! Although, we do recommend sticking on the stronger side & just taking less to have room to experiment with higher dosages.
Try out different amounts at different times throughout your day. Most people are taking it 2x or more per day but this varies amongst customers. This sort of solution offers high levels of benefit, but you must be the driver of your own plant-powered journey! This is better than handing it off to a doctor that isn’t always out for your best interest.
